There are many styles of roping when it comes to work out in the pasture. The same is true for roping events.
Key components of our events include not losing the rodear, not roughing the cattle, and no loping. Earn points for moving shots and smoothness in groundwork. Lose points for missed shots. Points are always given for fancy loops, but the emphasis is always going to be about practical roping.
Our Judges this year for both events are veteran roping competitors. They are expert ropers themselves, as well as well as first rate mentors, clinicians, ranch managers, and judges.
You'll find a complete, downloadable set of our current Rules on the Event Registration Page.
In a nutshell, there are three Divisions (Novice, Intermediate, and Open). To enter, you must choose between entering in either a) Open or b) Novice or Intermediate. Teams may enter twice in the Novice Division, multiple times in Open and Intermediate. Your second entry must include at least one different member on your team.
There is something for every level of roper at our events. Our Open Ropers are the best in the region, hands down. We have seen a nice increase in the number of Intermediate Ropers, who move up from the Novice Division each year. And our events are excellent for Novice Ropers, as there is a Judging Clinic (one head, during the team go) and your team will be paired up with a pro roper, who will share valuable expertise, experience, and efficiency.
If you desire a roping event that most closely resembles a cowboy's true workday, then CTRR events are for you.
