Our February Ranch Roping event is part of the annual Spirit of the West Cowboy Gathering, which brings some of the best traditional cowboy musicians, poets, and artists together along with a gear show and kid's activities to Historic Ellensburg.
Our event is held in the Bloom Pavilion, out of the wind and weather. Arena-side bleachers provide spectators an up-close view of all the action.
Day 1 Features The Open roping with the Open ropers competing in an exciting 2-man doctoring in their Finals. Day 2 features both the Novice and Intermediate ropers, who rope 3 head then return for roping with fresh cattle in the Finals.
Our July Ranch Roping event is held after calving season, and is a great getaway for the family over the 4th of July weekend. Held at the Washington State Horse Park, there are plenty of camp spots and miles of trails to explore outside of the event.
Day 1 will feature two arenas of Open Roping, and Day 2 will showcase both the Novice and Intermediate ropers.
New this year: Novice Ropers Judges clinic will be included in the Novice Ropers' team go. The team will rope 3 head, but only scored on 2 head. The first head will be treated as a clinic round, with our judges giving comments and coaching to the team. The next 2 head will be judged and scored for the actual roping event.
